well katakuri and doffy are totally diff.
doffy was evil and on other hand katakuri was a formidable opponent who was better than luffy for most part, and luffy won just because of his persistence,
and in the end it was not like katakuri was just down severely, he stood up, asked the question, then decided to lay down. Luffy was also not in any shape to continue, so I would call it a draw.
Plus opposite of doffy, katakuri is respectable, a fair fighter, how he injured himself when he got to know that fight wasn't fair.
TBH in this arc katakuri was better than luffy, and just bcz luffy is protagonist that he won. Obviously in upcoming arc he powers up, then he could beat katakuri easily if katakuri doesn't power up himself.
and its first time I am feeling bad that a antagonist lost. haha

Luffy recognize someone by their aura and weapon he confirmed it himself in Thriller bark, he didn't recognized sogeking because Usopp act differently and brave, and his weapon is different from usopp.

Aerodynamically those cupcake shaped ships are not suitable for sales.

I don't care what nobody says, KATAKURI won this fight , these past 20-15 fight episodes ; luffy didnt even hit him ¼ the amount he hit luffy , but according to the plot MC must win , luffy took a whole lot of damage but still katakuri couldn't get up but luffy did like wtf man ?

Oda does a good job covering MC plot armor with reason, and here it is clear how Luffy won. Katakuri pretended not to be damaged or hurt when he did and postured around, originally Katakuri is not even a guy who got dealt any damage in his lifetime. He never lost or got close to losing. His tolerance to physical damage is much lower than Luffy, who got his fair share of experience. You must also consider the power of Luffy's rubber flesh in his healing and recuperation process. He also is smaller and therefore gets less damage dealt overall. The battle became a war of attrition and with his experience in it Luffy won.

Also it's somewhat implied that Katakuri chose to fall at that moment, since he's not completely opposed to the big mom pirates collapsing

see? this is what annoys me so much. If you read the manga you'll understand that half the fighting scenes are added as fillers so it makes it look like luffy was beaten much more than he was. And its not just plot armor, it's about willpower. they were both beaten, luffy, although much more beaten, stood up when his opponent couldnt. that's it isn't it? its the power that comes from knowing there are ppl waiting for him and believe in him. they are not strong but push themselves that much more and become strong because of their bond, which is like no other.
